Thanks Jeff. I may have to resort to a swede cover over the dash (black) since Im now in Fl. sunshine. I need to decide my limit for investment, or resell due to no parking space issues

I need an opinion on what works best to fix a cracked dash AND where I can find replacement carpet for a light grey interior. Suggestions?

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the info.. im looking to see if anyone has a spare computer I can borrow to swap mine out.  Im trying to verify that it is the issue before I buy one.  I have a 92 cab and after replacing the Haal sensor, i'm still not getting the variocam to work, ive checked all other parts except the computer itself.

Hi Jeff,

Although mine is a 95, it is the cassette - probably a $1K option for the CD :) . It was replaced by the previous owner and in the box of spare parts. It looks good, but I don't know for sure of its status. Previous owner said was fine.

Hi Jeff,

Can you give me any info you have on my '92 cab.  VIN ends in 261.  Thx!

Thanks, jeff968.  The interior is linen, with magenta accents and carpeting.

Hi Jeff...thanks very much, I'll think about this for a bit but I believe I know a shop that can probably handle that tricky weld if it's required.  I appreciate the part number!

Cheers,

Larry

Hi Jeff,

Had a break in weather and was able to take the car for short spin and now am more than anxiously awaiting the next few weeks so I can take out more often!...  In any event, Steve did not leave the door stop part in the car anywhere that I can see so if you do have that part number I'd appreciate it...also, from what I can tell it almost looks like the missing part may have been pulled out of the door jamb (the mounting holes seem to be rough/a little bigger than they're supposed to be)...do you recall if it will be a straight replacement without any re-tapping of the holes?   Thanks Jeff!

Jeff, you're absolutely right. I went out and checked and sure enough 9/91!

Thanks again for setting me straight on this. In hind sight, I should have checked the VIN sticker a long time ago and would have realized the error made. Who knew!!

Jeff, the production completion date on my C.O.A. says Jan. 23/92. Do you think it's actually wrong? Based on what you know it seems that it is.

Hi Jeff, you know someone told me that the recessed hood emblem was used only for the 1992 model year. Thanks for clearing that up! That's pretty cool. I knew my car was a fairly early production number but I thought it was 156th based on the VIN #. You've been a lot of help with information!

Thanks, Ian

Hi Jeff, thanks for clearing up the rear seat thing. The c.s. person at PCNA should have know that wouldn't you think?? In any case the heated sport seats are listed on my C.O.A. I added the 17" cup wheels about 6 months after I bought the car. I really like the rear seat area. It's so much more practical than the tiny seats. You be amazed how bottles of wine you can fit into those nice soft storage cubbies!!

Hi Jeff,

I bought the car in Sept. 2006 with aprox 12,000mi from a independent Porsche dealer here in Vancouver. I know it was originally sold new in the Chicago area.

The options listed on the C.O.A. are as follows: U.S. Standard/Emissions, Heated Sport Seats- Elec. vert. adj. Porsche CR-1 Radio, Cruise Control & Bridgestone tires. As you can see, no mention at all for the Rear seat Delete. PCNA could never answer that one for me! The car came with standard non heated seats. We think that the Chicago dealer switched them with another car in stock so that the customer would purchase the car. Obviously, there was a size issue here. Well that's about all I can tell you. It's still like a brand new car!

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Jeff, nice to hear from you. Unfortuneately I have to put the Red Baron up for sale. Hopefully It will go to someone who will really look after it! It's way to nice to be a daily driver!

Hi Jeff...thanks very much for the reply.  I'm anxiously awaiting the warmer, cleaner weather!  I didn't notice that Steve had left that part anywhere in the car, so I'll take a better look and if not I'll post another comment to you for the part number.  I had planned to join the Porsche club...I also have some friends who drive older N.A. cars and attend cruise nights (some require cars to be of certain age), so I may do that too.  Thanks again for the reply and info!

Cheers,

Larry

Hi Jeff...well, I have the car tucked in my garage here in Toronto waiting for better weather.  Hope you don't mind me asking a couple of questions...1, there is discolouration in the darker leather along the top of the door panels.  It doesn't clean off so I'll need to fully clean and re-dye.  Do you know the colour name/number?  2., There are rattles in the top (passenger side)...any tricks to remove the liner and tighten frame?  3.  During the pre-purchase inspection, the Porsche dealer measured the paint thickness and said the passenger door had been re-sprayed...any knowledge of that? 4, and finally...the driver's side door hinge damper (if that's what it's called) is missing so the door swings freely...do you know what this part is called?

Thanks Jeff, appreciate it and happy to be a 968 owner..there aren't many out there!

Cheers,

Larry

Yes, that's the one.  The pictures don't do it justice as it is even nicer in person.  The only thing that has been done is the addition of Billy Boat stainless cat back system.  I considered converting it back to stock, but it has the perfect sound...just a nice deep resonance.  Thanks for the information!

Jeff,  looks like I am going to be purchasing a 94 968 coupe.   Iris Blue with striking  Blue over light gray interior.  It is a manual transmission and  has the LSD (factory option) but no M030.  I am curious as to the production numbers and wondered if you could give me some idea.

Hi Jeff...looks like we have an agreement!  Just a couple of details to cover and in the New Year should be able to complete it. Thanks again for the referral, I'll keep you posted.  Best, Larry

Hi Jeff...I rec'd the info from the service guy and apparently it's an oil pan leak, so I'll move forward with that info.  Thanks again,

Best regards,
Larry
