"If you decide to go to a Manual top consider the following. Having the top re-powered will cost you at least $500 and it is getting harder to find someone that can even do the job. I recently purchased a "manualized" cab but in the process…"

"I disconnected the motor a year ago after hearing about all the "nightmares" people had with the out of sync syndrome. Keep in mind  90% of the operation is manual anyway."

"yes, there is the manual operation to crank down the top. most common problem is just a fuse for electric use of putting top up and down.  I DO have a suggestion for ALL cabriolet owners- either you or have your mechanic disable the entire…"

"Kaj, this is a "real" 1994. It does not have the 718 code. It has the later 993 style seats like your car. It is also aventurine which is a color that showed up later in 1994. You can also see from the option tag that this car is NOT a…"

"That's what makes me curious Matt. Your VIN clearly has the RS code. But the rims tells me it's a 93. They switched the rims to 17" cups in 94. We better get uncle Jeff to explain!!!"

Matt,

I'm not sure which Austin owner you are. It will probably be several weeks before anything can be set up. It would be fun to compare cars and share stories. Would be helpful if I had your email address.

Matt,

I believe it was you that asked if anyone knew of a way to manually open and close the cab top. My car came with the electric mechanism already disengaged so I've  manually opened and closed. I can't say how it was done but suspect it is a bit of a job to disconnect gears, motors and cables. Once done it's very simple to open and shut manually.
