Banging/oscillation when shifting down to 2nd gear

I still have the same 1993 Porsche 968 I bought in 1999, although I don't drive it much. It's had one annoying little problem after another... not enough to make it undrivable but enough to make me rather weary of the car. I want to get the last couple of problems ironed out and start enjoying the car again.
