Whining transmission

1994 968 cab Manual T. It's beginning to get louder.  In neutral, left and right=- whine...2 to 3 = whine3 to 4= whine and so on.  In gear if I touch the lever and put a little pressure on it...= whine  Whines in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th.  When shifting, the moment I touch the lever = whine. It would seem something is touching or wearing out.  Any ideas? Experience?
